Pretty Little Cupcakes

While at my sister's wedding in May, I was asked by my mother-in-law to make cupcakes for my sister-in-law's wedding (which was this last weekend). Of course I agreed to make them. Though I haven't working solely with frosting, I took the challenge thinking I had a few months to practice. That didn't happen!
I frosted them at the cabin...but forgot my frosting recipe so I made it from scratch and memory. Turned out pretty good! And yes, I did make more than 9...I ended up with about 45...and came up 6 cupcakes short on my frosting! Talk about annoying! They were a hit by all!

Rustic Wedding Cake with Burlap

The opportunity presented itself for me to make a wedding cake. The picture she sent me was this very simple rustic looking cake with a burlap bow on it. When I arrived to set it up, I was in love with the reception hall. Burlap everywhere! Monster High Cake

When I was asked to create this cake, I had never heard of Monster High before. I've come to the conclusion that they [the dolls] are the new Barbie. It's Mattel's new line of fashion dolls. Don't quote me, I could be wrong, after all, I'm a mom of boys... This is pretty much all I had to go off of. I tried to incorporate the stripes, though they didn't quite turn out as planned. Sensi Wu LEGO Ninjago Cake

This cake was two months past its due date, but my son said it was worth the wait! “It’s better than awesome!”  After making the green ninja, Lloyd, the year before, this one was pretty quick to put together because I already had a good idea of what I was doing.
