Pregnant Belly Cake for Baby Shower

This is the pregnant belly cake I made for a co-worker's baby shower. Super cute and love how it turned out! French Vanilla cake with Buttercream Frosting - Yummm....!  I added the bow as a last minute detail, though I wasn't planning on it originally.  The beautiful mom-to-be with her cake. She loved it! For those wanting to make one of your own, I used the  Wilton Sports Ball Cake Pan  for the belly and the  Wilton Mini Ball Pan  for the boobs. The larger pan should be filled with 2 1/2 cups of batter and the small pan can be filled 2/3 full, but closer to full, in my opinion, to make sure they rise over the edge for a clean cut for the base. Normally when baking cakes, I line the pan with parchment paper so it doesn't stick. In this case I followed the directions and greased the pan then coated it in flour. I was super nervous about not using parchment paper, but it came out with ease! Happy baking!

Appearance in Brides & Grooms Magazine

I called my sister Kim last week to see how her booth at the wedding fair went. Last year we were both there, I for the hotel, and she for the catering company she was working for. This year she was promoting the golf course she works at (as the Restaurant Manager). They are going to begin doing wedding events there and she's going to be heading it up! Woot Woot! Go Kim! After a few minutes of chit-chat, we got off the phone and she quickly called me back a short while later after flipping through the latest edition of Brides & Grooms magazine, which is a publication of the Missoulian newspaper.  The  groom's cake  I made for Kile's wedding in May was in it! Granted it was submitted by Dax Photography, who photographed my sister's wedding, and who was also the photographer at my wedding, so it has his name on it and no mention of me, but still! Its there, and Dax knows where to find me if someone asks about it!   And my beautiful sister Kile is on t...

Airplane Cake

The day has come and gone when my little boy turned 4! We went round and round when discussing what kind of cake he wanted. We both finally agreed on an airplane cake. Although when I planned it out, it was supposed to have two tiers, I think it turned out pretty darn cute regardless! My little 4 year old with his airplane birthday cake. The first thing he ate was the pilot's nose, followed by the airplane wings :)

Pretty Little Cupcakes

While at my sister's wedding in May, I was asked by my mother-in-law to make cupcakes for my sister-in-law's wedding (which was this last weekend). Of course I agreed to make them. Though I haven't working solely with frosting, I took the challenge thinking I had a few months to practice. That didn't happen! I frosted them at the cabin...but forgot my frosting recipe so I made it from scratch and memory. Turned out pretty good! And yes, I did make more than 9...I ended up with about 45...and came up 6 cupcakes short on my frosting! Talk about annoying! They were a hit by all!

Monster High Cake

When I was asked to create this cake, I had never heard of Monster High before. I've come to the conclusion that they [the dolls] are the new Barbie. It's Mattel's new line of fashion dolls. Don't quote me, I could be wrong, after all, I'm a mom of boys... This is pretty much all I had to go off of. I tried to incorporate the stripes, though they didn't quite turn out as planned. I think I did the skull pretty well though! Happy Birthday Pam! I hope you like it!

Golf Themed Groom's Cake

Alright! Here's what I was stressing about for the last week! My sister Kile married the love of her life, Chris this last Saturday. A wonderful wedding and reception! Earlier this year, after I made this cake , Kile asked me if I would be interested in making their groom's cake. Without any hesitation, I agreed. And then I decided to make her bachelorette cake too! I really struggled with this cake though...mostly in transporting it! By the time it arrived at the hotel, the bride fell off the cake completely, the golf cart was in shambles, and the alter was laying down. I carefully pieced it all back together...I was so glad to be done with it!

Zebra Print Bachelorette Cake

I absolutely LOVE this cake! But I think I say that about all of them! Anyways, I created this one for my older sister's bachelorette party on Thursday.  We had themed her party as a "Wild Night" with zebra and leopard print everywhere. It turned out great! What a beautiful bride-to-be!
