Simple Round Cake

I made this last minute for a co-worker turning 30. Pretty simple, nothing too crazy. I am happy to report this was my first time NOT getting upset with my fondant. WooHoo!

Tool Cake for Our 2 Year Old!

Here it is! The finished product! JP's tool cake! Complete with a hammer (notice the wood grain on it!), a wrench (inscribed with "Dustin Tools"), a screw driver, and measuring tape. I created the tape measure last after I had made all the tools. Initially I was just going to wrap it around some tools, but because of Hunter's little " incident " I opted to wrap it around the whole cake instead. I love how it turned out!

Fire Truck Cake

Long before Hunter turned 3 years old, he told us he wanted to be a fireman "and put out the fires!" As his birthday approached he decided (with my help of course!) that he wanted a fire truck cake for his birthday. I found the directions for this cake on bettycrocker.com as well, but changed a couple things around. He loved his cake! And yes, I blogged about this cake on my personal blog... But this was a monument cake for me, as I had never worked with fondant before. Here's where I got the idea:  http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/fire-engine-cake/a4c6b0d2-2347-45f2-8327-8ab7e3b328c4
